Weekend in Shanghai

I was in Shanghai last weekend looking for inspiration...

Nop, these are not my latest street-style pics, these are vintage photos taken presumably in China in the 80s after the Cultural Revolution, when dressing western-style was no longer frowned upon. I found them at a vintage book market which takes place in the courtyard of Shanghai's Wen Miao Confucian Temple. I spent Sunday morning there trawling through (and buying!) Chinese vintage comics, a copy of The Little Red Book (in English), and of course a few vintage photos...

I will tell you more about the kind of eyewear the Shanghainese like to wear on another post soon...

Love this post. Reminds me of my Chinese mumma in her 1980s eyewear when I was a kid.

I am glad you like it :-) I wish I had found more pictures at the market...If you have any inspiring vintage pictures of people wearing spectacles or sunglasses that you would like me to post please feel free to email them to sandrabattistel@gmail.com, maybe describe the place (country, city) where the picture was taken and the year (approximately), many thanks.
