On the blackboard

If I where a man (a confident man!) I would dress like Sam and Shaka from Art Comes First, or rather I would have the same approach to men's fashion they do. What I like about them is that they are not trying to write a wardrobe check list for men to follow. Instead they have set out to inspire them (or to inspire women picturing themselves as a man) by saying "hey! my style reflects all the things I like, music, art, culture, fashion and fashion is expression of all of this and part of it as well...".

The other great thing about them is the fact that they base their style on pure knowledge of materials, craftsmanship, tradition...and they are able to move away from this and play with it, to make it their own. One of their recent projects is COAL, a collaboration with various designers on a range of garments and accessories based on the colour black coal and the very things that define it...a white shirt, a white font and light! Here are some pics of the people behind this project including the man behind their collaboration with Lotho on the eyewear, Aroun Ducroux (last picture, at the bottom).
