Mido in Hong Kong

Relax...the world-famous eyewear fair will NOT be relocating to Asia anytime soon! The Mido I visited last week is a tiny, overcrowded treasure-trove disguised as vintage store in the heart of Hong Kong's SoHo district. When I told my friend Joann I was going to be in her hometown she said "you MUST go to my friend's shop, he owns the most amazing collection of glasses!!". So, off I went on a lazy (and typically hazy) Sunday afternoon in HK!
Mido is at the back of the Select 18 store and it's the kind of shop I am on a mission to compete with one day (yes...in your dreams Sandra!). Once you manage to squeeze through a long tunnel of vintage-wear at the front of the shop (I warn you, it's dense!) and resist many temptations along the way you reach...the vault! Which is where all the beautiful glasses and sunglasses we believed extinct from vintage shops across Europe have decided to retire to...they are all here on every shelf and in every little drawer, living happily with some contemporary brands the owner likes to mix in!

Select 18 is on Bridges Street and this is how you recognize it.
