As modern as they used to be!
Last week saw the debut of Modern Vintage London at interiors and lifestyle shop, Pitfiel.
Modern Vintage brings a curated range of original, unworn eyewear from the 60s to the 90s. The difference with other vintage retailers is that each frame has been carefully reconditioned by a team of skilled craftspeople in North Eastern Italy, ensuring they fit as well as the day they were manufactured.
Some pieces are by historical fashion houses like Robert Laroche or Romeo Gigli (a personal favourite, which I can't wait to talk to you about, in more detail in another post, very soon!). Other sunglasses bare the name of the workshops that crafted them, some of which have now sadly ceased manufacturing, like FOCA and Piave (a manufacturer I had worked for in Italy).
I am particularly passionate about Modern Vintage as it's a project I am closely involved with and I had worked for years with the people at the workshop in Italy where the frames have been reconditioned.
Here are some of my favourite pieces...
Here is a post by Siu from MGAM who was at Pitfield for the launch!
